My beach buggy Build

So I have been wanting to put up my progress of my beach buggy for a long time, but here goes

Bought it complete, excluding the motor in Feb 2008 for R1000, but the pan was vrot ImageImage

So I got a new pan, shortened it, coted the bottom with ABE autocot and the top with polyurethane.

Then went on with the body, it had a few cracks which, with the help of my uncle we fixed, body filled and put some spray filler on and I sanded it down, it is now ready for primer, going on today

The body is sprayed and fitted toe the chassis

Wiring is done, lights and indicators are working. It also started with the key for the first time

Fitted one seat and sat in it for a while, felt good.

One thing that is a bit of a worry, I am over 6ft and it feels as if the sides of the body is to low - i.e. it does not cover much of my hip, maybe some of the other buggy owners can give me a indication of how there buggy sits?

Thanks

Hi Renierdev, That sounds pretty high. I am also 6ft and don't sit that high. What seats have yiu got in the buggy? Where are you based? Maybe I can make a turn so you can see mine.

Hi Renierdev

I'm also busy building a buggy - what kind of seats are you using?

I had some problems getting enough clearance between the steering wheel and seat on the driver side, at the moment it's a still a tight squeeze (and I'm not that tall). Try and mount the seats as low as possible. I used a pair of after market seats and bolted them onto the floorpan using only 25mm square tubing for a spacer.

If you use the bottom part of a standard Beetle seat railings, and bolt a bucket to it, it sits just right. Standard Beetle seats on their own are too high.

I took the beetle seat rails and modified them so they are as low as possible, and fitted some buckets to them, maybe it is right but does not look and feel right to me.

There is enough space between the steering wheel and my legs, more than I thought.

I'll post a pic, and maybe HR you can see how the seats look in comparison with yours(jislaaik my engels is skoon aaptwak - maar ek dink dis ongeskik om in afrikaans te "post" as daar so baie engelse mense ook hier deur die "site" gan)
