Nice...enjoy your holiday at the beach with your beach buggy!
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

No Jolas. Pine is one of those JHB moffies. That buggy has a roof on.jolas wrote:Awesome stuff, there is something very special about travelling on a quiet road in the Karoo at dawn and dusk - it must be an even better experience in an open top vehicle ?
Cool pics - thanks

Re: Hot Wheels 2 - Pine's new Buggy build thread
Thanks guys! It was great fun, and I'll do it anytime again in a heartbeat. Today was the big wash day for HW2, luckily I had a little help from my sister's kids Altus & Corli Rossouw...

Lekker trip, just read it a bit late! That Buggy is really looking good.
Driving through the Karoo at Dusk and Dawn is really special, I did both 7 times on trips last year I love it so much.

On the page with all the speedo's going 00000.0, just look at the fuel gauge of the Khaki Cruiser, nearly full , WOW, what a sight, when are we going to see that again with the current fuel prices!

Re: Hot Wheels 2 - Pine's new Buggy build thread
After more than 3 and a half years, 987 thread replies and no less than 18546 views - I herewith would like to officially 'close' this build thread, as Hot Wheels 2 is completed at last! Coming back from Knysna today, the odometer clocked 3000km, so I think it is safe to say I am beyond the stage of 'test driving' it
A huge THANK YOU to each and everyone of you for all the moral support I got during the build - here on ACVWSA, by phone/email/sms and in person. Yes, it took longer than I planned, and not everything always went according to plan , but in the end I am more than happy with the result - (I will do a 'lessons learned' or 'SWOT analysis' thread at a later stage.)
So many people have helped me with various parts of the build, actually too many to mention, but I would like to give a special THANKS to IMPI for all his help. Lying in hospital in November 2007, shortly after the accident with HW1, I received a call from IMPI on my phone - and his first words were 'We're gonna build you another one'
Well, if it wasn't for all of IMPI's assistance during the initial shortening of the chassis and conversion to IRS and so much more, I would probably still be posting threads on how my dream buggy 'should look'. Well, my friends, at last I have driven my DREAM BUGGY on the BEACH today!!
RIP HW1 1971 - 2007
