Not my work Suzie - that was done by Simon at Old Mill - in just a day and a half!!!! It is pretty rough up close, and they just dropped a section of the roof in to cover up at the back. Barrel of laughs to drive though, and gets more reaction than my Noble!!
Anyway the plan is to reshape the back end to get some flow. There is a lot of rust and a few structural issues, so I may not spend too much time getting things perfect. If the basic concept works, I may try to find a better base to start from and do another one.
So the overall idea will be extended front, Heb inspired (sort of) rear, cover over the rear seats with built in headrests, and a bolt on Duvall style aluminium windshield (split and with more rake).
First order of business will be to get the beam extender in and then start playing with the lines a little.
I plan to do a full chronicle of the progress on here - should start this week sometime (hope I can figure out how to post pics again - thought I had it figured out)

Thats going to look VERY cool.
What lights did you use front and back ? Are they bolt-on or was custom brackets developed ?
Would it pass a roadworthy or will custom fenders need to be created?

Sorry for all the questions, but although my first love is resto cal type beetles, there is something about a beetle rod that appeals to me, flat black paint, subtle flames, pin striping. CLEAN CLEAN chrome wheels, chopped roof, bring it on.

Hi Karma
I don't know for sure, but think it is all aftermarket motorbike stuff. Pretty cheap too 'cos its rusted already (maybe one year old?)
The whole fender/roadworthy thing seems to depend where you go. Although I understand that strictly speaking the law requires them, I've heard of a couple of guys getting through without problems (and of course some claim to be able to get through with some of those special blue permits that Tito Mboweni signs.....)
Anyway not an issue on this one as the car already has a valid licence and I don't think Simon is planning on selling it, but if it became a problem I'd look at some removable cycle fenders.

Hi Blitz

Yeah took me a while first time I read it too...
Actually seems a little cruel - I may have to think of something better and start a new thread of the actual build (when it starts   ) That's assuming I can actually make it look better!!
Barry

I'm sorry Zero.... I don't get your point......

Hehe, bad joke. IIRC the scene was when the English tried to teach Shaka Zulu to make a signature.... And all he did was (in "prehistoric-style") drawn a " X ". So I imagined Tito Mboweni do the same, but "sign" it with " 1 " " 0 " " 0 " ....... :zhelp:
