Cause the eyes of the Ranger are upon you

Post by Pine »

This is the latest ride of the SAPS mounted unit, seen yesterday at Kyalami. Guess they had some inputs from Chuck when they had to decide on their vehicles?

That looks like an Ford F250 Super Duty Crew cab, very popular over here. Hope that has the power stroke diesel V8?

These are the F-series models available in SA, and their prices  from http://www.ford.co.za
I don't know the power stroke diesel engine?

Single CabFrom R 327,950
(Incl. VAT)
4.2L Turbo Diesel
4x2 or 4x4
Manual

Double CabFrom R 423,250
(Incl. VAT)
4.2L Turbo Diesel
4x4
Manual

You need a code 10 (small to medium truck) license to drive on of them on our roads, a normal sedan/small LDV or SRV can be driven with a code 8 license

that thing is so big you dont even need the horse trailer, just load her on the back under the canopy! What sort of mileage do they get, now that diesel approaches R11 a litre ?

Here you see lots of soccer moms dropping the kids off at school with these trucks, these things are huge. The 2008 has a 6.4 L diesel with 2 stage turbo producing 350hp and 650lb-ft of torgue enough to pull your house off it's foundation. I have looked but could not find any econemy numbers, but I have to guess it will do about 15 to 18 miles to the gallon. You can drive these here just on your normal drivers license

Go figure,stupid SA laws!

My VW DC is almost the same size but I can drive it with a code 08 license and it is half the price.

My DC does the same top end at 160km/h and I get 8l/100km.The Ford does 15.5l/100km and the 4x4 15.9l/100km!!

And here is the strange thing,it has less space inside than my DC.It's power to weight ratio is better than the Ford.

The Ford is not even a considderation in my books.

At that price I'd rather buy another property and rent it out.
