Wide Body fleetline

Hi There
This is an extract from a VW enthusiast site in the UK.
Definition of a fleetline:
Split Screen Vans built in South Africa from kits sent from Brazil in 1975
There were some 789 of these assembled in SA, 15-window Kombis, panelvans,
and wide-bodied pick-ups (very rare). They were a hodge-podge of early and
late split bus parts, with 1600DP engine with 12V alternator.
Anybody seen a wide body fleetline. Sounds very interesting, anyone have a picture for us ?

Cool. thanks for the pics Pine. Rare does not equal pretty!
I see both models have a long pipe coming up the side of the cab, what is it for? Looks like a snorkel.

I speak under correction, but I think the pipe is just an extension of the air filter, since it is a pickup, you don't want the dust from gravel or sand that is loaded on the back enter your carb?

That would make sense, cool.
Maybe one of these, sprayed black with flames, polished fuchs, 2.3 type 4 in the back. Use it to take your garden refuse to the dump on weekends. Now that would be a site!
Anyone have a widebody they want to get rid of ?

That site was quoting me. 789 is an error from a misprint Commercial Vehicle Data Digest. The correct number of Fleetlines built was around 5,000.

Karamakoma Its for the oilbath air cleaner. It have a flexi pipe connecting the steel pipe with the air cleaner.
