Is it possible to recalibrate a speedo?...

Post by Merlin »

My bug is running non-stock wheels...

...this obviously puts the speedo out a little.

Is there a way to get the speedo recalibrated? Can I take it to someone?

Thanks, N.

Calibrate it yourself with a GPS. Note the under/overread at 60/80/90/100 km/h and then you always know your true speed. And then when you get another set of tyres in the stock size, you won't need to have more surgery on your speedo.

My bug won't be getting stock wheels, Fig. :)

...and at this stage I'm not sure whether I'm keeping it for a long time, so spending money on new wheels, etc. is beyond me, but I would like to get the speedo recalibrated.

I'll look up Speedometer Services; thanks Tony.
