Axle and drum moves

Hi

I sent my buggy in to look at a problem with a stutter on 1st gear. When I got it back from the mechanic that looked at it, I had numerous other issues like started not working and so forth,

But one thing that is concerning me is that the right hand side axle sticks so far out that the drum is moving in and out. See the attached photo. I removed the nut and the drum and opened the housing, The spacer is there. I thought that might be the problem.

The left hand side is fine.

Can anyone help me with this issue, (not taking it back to the same guy)

Thanks

That shudder when you pull away could be the clutch cable not having a big enough kink in the Bowden tube.

You would have to remove the drum and all other parts as the makkie probably does not know how to assemble the back axle.

You will have to see if the side shaft is still in place within the diff.

Then see that all the parts are in the correct place on the brake drum side and that all your seals are in place.

Then you need to fully tighten the castle nut to the correct torque.

That guy has no clue what he is doing, stay away from him.

Hi

Thanks so much for the help, Yip, will never go back to him, would rather be doing it myself.
What I should have done in the first place.

I will also check on the bowden tube.

Seems to be an early drum on a late shaft.
What does the drum on the other side look like?

Hi

It could very possibly be, the makkie had another disassembled gearbox. Here is a pic from the one on the left. I will compare them

The LHS drum has a nose, whereas the RHS doesn’t. I’ll bet that fitting the correct drum would solve your problem.
