Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
I import, use and sell the rotary fuel pump that CB Performance sells.
3psi and perfect for Weber carbs, also good to around 160hp.
Price before the Rand fell thru the floor with corona was R1800

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
Just to expand here on your question;-..
Yes as the silly local agent has no clue that the low pressure pump (133010) is available or he is just not interested to bring them in.
Even after giving him the number and telling him I have imported 4 so far, he was adamant they do not exist.
Me think he has large stock of the big one, and wants to sell them out.
You see they all look the same and only the number tells you what the output is.

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
If my memory serves me right, they in a small side street in Johannesburg.
This was 5 or 6 years ago.
Still Google Maps them but for the life of me can not remember the company name.
Spoke to the guy on the phone but was not impressed with him at that time.
Tried to Google them again, and I think I found them, at 97 Dam Rd. Bokburg Google lists the number as 011 894 8125
Sorry.

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
Maybe you're talking about the guys that bring in V8 parts? I got a low pressure range HUCO fuel pressure regulator by a V8 shop here in Cape Town.

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
Whats its number ??
133010 = 2.5 PSI max.
133000 = 4.3 psi max
144010 = 8 psi max.
Then there are a few in between and higher. so the number is important.

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
Hi all,......my pump has eeeventually arrived,...will pick it up thisafternoon!!!
Now,..some concerns about fitment ?
Suction pump?,.......therefore fitting in the back closest to engine is apppropriate ?
Fuel filter? .......Normal "inline" filter BEFORE pump ?,....as well as if I decide to fit the type with glaas bowl with wet paperfilter,.....are these paper filters easily available ?,.......midas?
Relay?,....this is where it gets foggy !??
I am "uneasy" with fitting an electric pump straight in with "ignition" supply,....so? I thought I was brilliant to try and connect itso that(heaven forbid), the engine stalls and I am "incapacitated" to switch off the ignition to prevent further fuel movement!
Therefore the idea came up to somehow use ithe oil pressure indicator line ,.....the assumption is that when the oil light comes on,..the engine is not running therefore not requiring more fuel......but some or other "override" switch to start the engine.
This is where I loose the plot,..just as I think I got it!!
The electric "friend",...talks about a "normally closed" relay to be connected to the oil light circuit with an "override"
Then....I saw the attached,...and diodes mess with my mind ??
j
now this 2nd pic looks like a proposition,..but this switch is confusing ?
Has anybody got a plan for me ?
Advice will be greatly appreciated

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
The problem with most aircooled cars are that the tank sits higher then the motor spark plugs, so even if you stop the pump, gravity will still freeflow the fuel through the pump.
So to be save use this rely system or go via the driver door switch (for the interior Light) to switch off the pump as well as the shutoff valve you can get from most car alarm shops.
This will stop fuel for sure as you get out the car.
To fit the whole lot, go with tank - filter - pump - shut off valve - carb.

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
I've got a very brief description on how to wire in the pump on my page
viewtopic.php?p=279039#p279039
NC relay with coil wired to oil pressure light.
Switch wired to fuel pump
Oil light comes on, switch opens, pump stops

So it wouldn't be possible to prime your carb before starting?

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
you can always fit a momentary on/off switch that allows the pump to run while you hold down the button

Re: CORRECT Electric Fuel Pump for Aircooled motors
Thanks for everybody's input,...........but I am not closer to an answer that makes me sleep better.
Tony,....NC relay coil connected to Oil light ?...........sort of get it. --) relay passing "live" feed through 30 to 87 to pump running. Oil light comes on circuit.......coil kicks in and pump stops.....????
"Switch wired to fuel pump" ???.........don't get this one ?
You guys have done this inyour sleep a thousand times,......so please be patient and very clear.
