Nice pictures of the trailer, I thought that I must reply, My late dad was the designer, Fabricator of the trek bar trailer, I used to work at trek bar during my school holidays, I have since acquired the sole rights from Germany to reproduce them, they where known as the "ESSEN" trailer but fabricated from marine ply, he changed them to aluminium.
This renewal or relaunch of the trek bar trailer will come into affect in 2021, same design no changes at all. Have all the documents still on hand from my late dad, Ralph.
All the best with thew sale you pricing is excellent for what it can carry 400 kg's payload wise. There are still around in Cape town, still running. But not for sale. They out last the venter trailer, as they don't rust like the venter unit. . All the best.

Regarding serial numbers: back then there was no " VIN" numbers being used. The last three digits where the manufactured number on the production line. I.E 200268 meant it was the 268th unit being made, I can't remember what the first two numbers where, I stamped many of those name tags, we where going to have serial numbers, but is turned out to big a task to register it with the authorities. Sorry about that you just have the that number, there are no other numbers stamped on the frame at all. Remember this was in the 1979 when it was made things where very basic back then. The wheel had two bearing in them and where very easy to replace nothing fancy at all, in fact the rims where from "wheel barrows", the tire's where up graded for a Maximum speed of 130 km/hr per hour, these where tested for 4 months 24/7 at that speed on a simulator with 350 kg load on them all was good. The wheel bearing where rated at 500 kg load divided by two as there where two bearing in each rim bolted together.
Just some OF THE UNKNOWN facts on the " TIP TOW TRAILER" KNOWN TO MANY SOUTH AFRICAN AS THE "TREK BAR TRAILER" The company Trek bar was the original company that started the manufacture of towing Brackets for caravan in South Africa. Back then they produced 90 towing brackets per day to meet the needs of the caravaning community back then. The company was sold in 1985 and eventually closed down. Just glad I could shed some light out there on it's background. The company Trek bar was a subdivision of Burgess Engineering who where established in 1948, My father was there from day one they started building buss bodies and in the 70's he started up trek bar as another division. From here it is all history.
