Would this be Rowland?Haans wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 12:55 pm Herman & Tony,.....pump jet I checked,......squirting ok. we removed carb and believe that the manifold "throat" is way too small and too close to the carb.
If needle &seat is leaking,.... would it not flood over the top of carb to outside ?,......this "thing" will idle the tank empty,.....no issue.......
So,......both removed carb & manifold will be on it's way to a "specialist" in Capetown to sort manif and jetting out on a flow testbench.
Do you guys know of this gent .

Re: My other project cars
There was'nt perhaps an electric fuel pump fitted recently?
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).

Re: My other project cars
That could very well be it. What is the fuel pressure that the pump supplies?

Re: My other project cars
2.5Bar might be way too much for the carb.
2.5Bar = roughly 36Psi
Weber carbs need around 5-7 Psi which is aroung 0.5Bar.
So, it would just push it past the needle and seat straight into the engine.

Re: My other project cars
Weber carbs need a pressure of no more then 2.3 PSI
Vw Solex will take 2.5 PSI
I think Nick meant PSI not bar.as that will blow any carb, but fuel injection.

Re: My other project cars
Correct Herman,..way too optimistic,....2.5 psi,.....sorry fot that.
Word from the ghuru is that Leon should have put a 32/36 carb on,.......we'll see what comes back ....will givefeedback.

Re: My other project cars
Fuel pump jet ,...a little squirt,............. fuel pours out from centre / secondary choke

Re: My other project cars
float not stopping the flow - or fuel pressure too high

Re: My other project cars
Hi Nick, has the expert come back with your carb......
Whats the finding ...
or does he recommend a number plate conversion.....
Where you crane up the two number plates, and slide a new car in-between ....

Re: My other project cars
Jip,....carb is back jetted, but biggest change was made to manifold base. Getting things ready to assemble, but my friend has taken a turn for worse and is back in hospital,.....dehydration due to excessive vomitting. He's better though.
Will take a peek at the jetting as well .
Will share pics
Thank for asking Herman

top pic is the before,..... and the rest is the "after". positive our issues will be resolved.
one thing this gent said we must NOT do is to hook up the vacuum advance ????? according to him 36 DCD"s don"t like a Vac advance.
can"t get my mind around this one ???? your opinion ???
