Porsche 718 RSK Replica | which kit to look for?

Post by phulc »

Hi guys,

I naivly have sold my replica two decades ago and recently been looking for a 718 RSK again. My search always takes me to your place.
No, I cannot afford a real one so still a replica will have to do ;-)
In SA these cars seem to be reasonably priced and still being produced.
Perhaps you can share your experiences with me:
  • what kits are known to be good ones and which not?
  • which kits are known to be close to the original?
From time to time I see at gumtree or junkmail kits that go with the bug's pan and others that follow the mid-motor concept.
Is the mid-motor-concept still being produced?
My plan is to have one with an aircooled boxer and ideally as a mid-engine.

Looking forward to your recommondations

Wow..what a beaut. So why did you sell it then. Im currently busy building one. Its based on the VW beetle chassis and unfortunately stil has the overhung engine in the back. Im building a 1776cc with dual carbs and sebring exhaust to give it a little go. Im yet to shorten the floor pan to attach the shell.
