Thanks Herman, you did an excellent job with what you had. You can be very proud of the result. I admire you.
Riaan, I do have the matching number engine that were fitted to this car when new, but there are a few parts missing, and the things that are missing is very expensive. Part of the dream is to build the engine back to original after the car has been assembled. Luckily it is just a swop and nothing too serious. I fitted a 1958 1200 30 horse engine. It was completely rebuild and looks perfect.
The beading set arrived and it just made such a difference. Some bling just lift the colour. Just for interest sake, these cars had a special beading with a raised centre, not the normal ones that were fitted after 1953. I am really glad that I could source a set.
Have a great day.

Prefitment of the dash pods and cubby holes. Final fitment after the correct ignition arrived.

OK, this is going slower than I anticipated, but I can do nothing about it. Patience is the name of the game. Some stuff arrived, but some major parts are still on order or on the way. I took some photos. The 16 inch rims and tyres were fitted, but the hupcap clips need to be knocked in. The correct semaphores were installed but needs some cleanup. Please give no attention to the cars in the background. Just distractions.

Lovely car, Crotch Coolers are the bomb. Will never understand why vw discontinued them.
Those headlamp lenses with the vw stamp, what years are they meant for? Have two that came in a box of spares for my '60

Re: 1952 VW beetle project.
Afternoon all my Air-cooled friends,
Progress is being made despite the long wait for parts to arrive. The front window was fitted, hubcap clips inserted and hupcaps fitted, rear lights were installed and a small but very important thing the interior light is where it should be.
The detail in these cars are just keeping us very busy. We re-used the rear light glasses as they were real glass and are as scares as hens teeth as is the interior light. Luckily we had the originals. The ignition arrived, and must be flitted.
The end is in sight, the roof lining and carpets are going in in the next few weeks. The seats are still in process, but there is a lot of buzz.
Have a great weekend.
Rudi

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Re: 1952 VW beetle project.
Well done, you car is looking great, reminds me of the hunt for parts and the wait to get all the parts from all over, and trying to fit them together ready to fit.
As well as the disappointment of receiving parts that are not correct and having to try and find a correct parts all over again.
But the joy when you have the right part and it fits, that makes it all worth the wait.
Can not wait to get to the Split weekend meeting that Jaco is arranging...
