Fuel Grade Sagga

Recently went from Jhb-Lesotho, nice quick spin to see family in the Mountain Kingdom.

Refueled at Petrus Styn (FULL TANK), and again in Maseru (HALF TANK). 60-70% of fuel used on the trip was 93 as 2/3 towns I pulled into didn't have 95 grade ULP.

I ride a 2012 4 inline FI bike. I hear people talking about fuel grade and how one should use the high grades.

NONE of the Lesotho pumps have 95 ULP. ONLY 93 ULP. There are brand new multimillion Rand valued German SUVs that drive the streets of Lesotho. The only time they smell 95 ULP is when they cross the border.

Is this fuel grade argument a "nice to have" option or really detrimental to the vehicle?

The hight off sea level will determine the fuel you use.

So us guys here at the cost, use 93 as we have high atmospheric pressure.

But as you go up to the High Velt, the petrol stations start selling higher grades to prevent pinging.

So the coast sell 93 and the High Velt sell 97 and in between sell both

Hope it helps
