Did anyone got a parcel from the states lately?

I would like to know if there is still a delay at the hub?

Need to get a parcel of 9kg but Fedex is R5k more than the USPS.

I believe the backlog is getting less, but it's def still there. Standard Post is still 40 plus days from overseas.

My parcel from the States has been sitting in JHB for the past month... Who knows if/when I'll be seeing it.

If time is a factor, avoid using any shipping method linked to SAPO.

Exactly.

I'm currently needing to bring half a shoebox of small slotcar bits from Amsterdam, anyone other there, or has anyone there? Otherwise it's an expensive DHL parcel again.

Over a month....

Tony gave me a good option that I would use in future.
I did decide to pay the extra R5k with Fedex not to go through SAPO. Not in a big hurry but as its original English Workshop manuals from the fifties I don't want it to get lost. Two years ago a Barndoor manual got lost from Newcastle. That was with Time Freight. They refunded me R500.

Using DHL. So parcel got scanned in today, will see how well they work locally. Supposed to be 5 working days..

That all depends on which option you chose.
The cheap European option uses DHL into SA and then the SA postal service from there onwards - I found out the hard way.
The more expensive option used DHL courier from door to door

The hold up is in Customs, the parcel is here in 2 days, then it sits in customs for 40 days.

The Courier company's pay to get there stuff through fast, so the normal post gets stuck

Agreed Herman, that's been pretty much my experience with SAPO. Picked up my parcel at the post office today, even though their tracking app says it's still in JHB. So much for their tracking app!

DHL door-to-door courier has proven to be excellent! I recently had two separate parcels shipped from the States. Both were delivered to my door, four days after being shipped. Cost was very reasonable as well.

I will never use SAPO again....they are pathetic and will not ever recover to provide acceptable service!

Big difference in price but definitely worth it.
Got my parcel from the US that was sent with Fedex on Friday.

Come on guys, where is your sense of adventure ??/

How boring to get what you have payed for within a few days.

The post office is spicing up your life, the expectation, the hope, the nervousness, the total frustration, the fear, pure adrenaline running through your veins.

And all that for the mere price of maybe never seeing you goods again.

And a good gamble tossed in for good measure.

ALL Praise the Post Office...... :TIC:

It seems like the backlog is clearing. I just received two books that were sent 2 months apart last year, today
