hi guys, i have read alot of conflicting info about the rev range of vw electronic parts differ from a beetle so in theory the golf electronic parts wont work in a beetle?
has anyone done this conversion here? fitting golf electronic points into a beetle? and does it work fine? no idle/rev range issue?

It is a good way to waste U'r time money and effort if U have all of that
but it is not a good conversion at all
the best is to try and get a distributor for the 1.9 or 2.1 water boxer engine
and get a original TP100 unit to work with it
second is go to Vdubtech and speak to Pierre as they do a nice electronic conversion on
your existing distributor i can vouch for this as my Bus and Baja both run these for over 2 years with
0 maintenance whatsoever and the timing stays the same as the day it was fitted
or U can go the cheaper route and get Hold of Gareth on Facebook he is always on the Aircooled Hooligan sa page
and just convert the condensor to electronic but U still need to maintain the points gap but the points don't burn
only the wearpad well wears

Or you can install an Accuspark or Pertronix magnetic wheel and pickup in your existing distributor and put the points and condensor in your toolbox. I paid about R1000 for the Pertronix conversion in my 1958 Mercedes Ponton 220S and about R600 for the Accuspark in my Beetle. I haven't had any problems so far. Just remember to eliminate the resistor if you are using a coil/resistor combo.
