Goodbye photobucket

Well, it seems that photobucket has now stopped 3rd party hosting - this is where you (or I) load a picture onto their site and then link to it on a forum or similar.
As you can see my avatar is no longer and if you go into my threads, you will also see that the picture no longer display.
Apparently if you click on the black "upgrade" picture, it will link to the picture on photobucket.

To fix this I can purchase an annual account for $400
Yes, thats over R5000 per year just to show the pictures which were once for free...

Well fukkit - I'll load my photos somewhere else at some point in the future. I just dont have the spare time to do it now...

Google it, there are plenty posts on various forums, all starting around 25 June

That sucks

This is why Eben said way back when to us all to rather try and load pics straight to the Forum
But it was a lot easier to load from f#Ck Buckit than straight to the Forum

I use tapa talk to load from my phone which make it a hell of a lot easier

Maybe even can look at some new Easier upgrade software to load pics

@TonyZ Is it not the way you doing it, as I use Photobucket, but I post the Image info, and it works fine.

Have no problem and have no instruction to change.

@retrovan

Nope. I just compared my posts to yours which are still working and I post my images in exactly the same way as you do. Copy and post their [URL][img] link...

My account has definitely been stopped, and so have many others. I wouldnt be surprised if yours gets stopped too in the next few days.
Or maybe they will see that people are closing their accounts instead of paying and will reverse their decision??

Same with all my posts and threads as I mainly used Photobucket to load pictures.
Whats going to happen with all these 'broken' threads if photobucket does not reverse their decision ?

Thats the problem. The threads will either look like crap without any pictures or we will have to go through them slowly updating them to have the pictures again.
Thats a whole lot of work right there....

@Eben, is there an API for the hosting software? To do it manually may be impossible but programatically not. I will have to get access to your account in both Photobucket and ACVW

Good riddance I say.

Yes, I can't see any image hosting site at work due to company policy. I can see images attached to forum posts.

My preference for images, if they are VW related, is to post them on thesamba galleries. It's unlikely they'll ever be deleted and the urls won't change. The only requirement is they must be VW related.

Just reading their new conditions, it would seem that you have exceeded your space allocated for "free hosting"

Maybe trim your unused photo's and have a look.

Tony do you reduce your photo's you up load, or do you load as is ??

I reduce all my photo's down to 30 or 40 kb and have only used not even half my allocation.

Here are the terms;-

Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min. The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined below) in order to continue accessing their account. You can upgrade to a Plus account at any time.

What I do is reduce my photo's from the different folders in my computer, and put them into a folder named "Web Ready' then when I upload, I take them from this folder, so none of my own photo's are reduced.

Those are the key words...

I usually reduce the size of my images. I'll log into my account soon and try to erase a few pics which I dont need anymore and see if it helps things
