So I bought this Chenowth Scorpion in 2015. Its my project but I am hardly ever in South Africa as I am contracting in Afghanistan.
Its a 1980s odd Chenowth Scorpion. Quite possibly the only one in South Africa. Imported from the USA and used as a rally car for the SA Champs by Barry Levine, then it had a 2.7 Porsche motor. Currently it has a 1600cc twin port beetle motor with a 38mm twin down draught Weber carb mated to a short ratio gearbox and diff, The pipework or chassis is made of Chrome Molly and the body panels are made of checker plate so it weights less than 500kg empty, it also has 2 aircraft seats, oh ja and it has terrible suspension its got 6 shocks from a Toyota Land Cruiser which is way too stiff.
So what needs to be done on it.
+ Engine and gearbox needs to be serviced and tweaked/tuned to run properly.
+ Suspension/shocks need to be changed to suit the vehicle weight
+ Fuel tank needs to be changed to a smaller barrel tank
+ Wiring needs to be redone
+ Handbrake needs to be installed
+ New brake lines to be installed
+ Seatbelts to be installed
+ Pedal cluster needs to be moved
Im considering getting some of the work done by someone so I can at least use the toy when I am in SA again. For now its just taking up space in the garage (Iv had to put one of my cars in storage for this reason)
Any suggestions on who to do what will be appreciated but not too far from Boksburg. It has an A-frame for towing but its obviously not registered.
