Aircooled VW South Africa

I saw her and 2 minutes later made the purchase.
It may have been a little impulsive... but she's here to stay!
Got her home by hooking her up to an A-frame.

New battery, dizzy, air filter, fuel filter, plugs... still struggled to get her started...
Had a chat to the good folks from Grandslam, then realised that although the carb was getting fuel, that's where it stopped!

Serviced the carb, turned the key... and she PURRED to life!

I still have a moerse big smile on my face!
Now the games can begin!!!

The plan is to strip her down, sand her down to bare metal, tow her to a body specialist to remove all rust (eek! as my daughter would say...).
Respray (Gun metal grey / military green?).

Adjust the suspension to increase the stance height and travel. Disc brakes at all 4 corners. Body and trimmings to stay standard.
Get the motor running optimally. Ensure the transmission is as it should be.
Put it all back together again.

These are some of the initial thoughts...

I reckon 5 years if all goes well.

you might want to think twice about raising the rear as the wheels camber out a lot making it "a bit unsafe".

Safety is always the 1st priority.
I have read somewhere that a bus suspension may be the answer...?
IRS suspension system is another alternative - your 1302S looks very solid indeed!
I will however research all options before implementing.

Glad to hear it. Do it right and you'll never regret it.
Your other option is to use reduction boxes on the rear from a split bus. Then you end up with a unimog style setup but with swing axles.
