1978 porsche 911 turbo gear linkage

Hey guys
I have a '78 930 turbo with a lame gear linkage.
I have removed the gear rod box and saw plastic grommets laying inside it. Im not sure how to reassemble or align the linkage. Im also planning to remove the engine to give it a new seal treatment....I have a few leaks which I must sort out. I will appreciate any input from anybody whose done this before.
Any advice will be considered.
