I purchased the Kombi in November 2013 in Derby,UK.I drove it back to Sweden through Denmark with some minor rocker cover leaks.
During the winter i sorted out the camper and used it during the summer,at the end of the summer we went to legoland in Denmark.
On the way home the motor started suffering from valve seat migration.

I stripped it down and sent all the tin for blasting and powder coating, this turned out very good and all the bits looked like new.
I then contacted Johannes Persson from JPM motorsports here in Sweden.
For some of you who dont know Johannes,he is a very well respected performance motor specialist. He does drag racing motors for beetles, motocross bikes for some top riders in Sweden and also makes his own type 1 heads.
I scheduled a meeting with him to discuss what was best for my needs, what i wanted was a little more horsepower and for the motor to be bullet proof.
We came up with a plan, see my signature, and i let him do his magic.

So i got all the tins on and primed the motor to get oil pressure.
Johannes has adapted the oil pump so that you dont have to turn over the motor to get oil pressure, just a battery drill on his adapted oil pump, very clever.

So after a few days fiddling and getting it all together,i turned the key and she fired up.
I ran it at 2000rpm for 20 minutes to break in the cam, changed the oil and oil filter, and took it for a drive.
The first thing i noticed was how much more torque it had,shw was running a bit rough so i synched the carbs and adjusted it as best as i could.
I did a few hundred km to make sure it was tight and then drove the hours drive out to JPM.
We stuck it on his rolling road to tune it up,he changed a few jets and played with the timing.
This is the result from the Dyno tuning.

nice to have JPM up the road....
I have contacted him in the past for a few items, but I guess, if you dont earn Swedish money, you cant afford his services... great products, no lie, but his prices are just in another league.
Your engine looks and sounds good. 100hp on the wheels is nice, really nice.
Now how about some pics of the bus and the python?

Thanks for posting about your build.

Please can you share your cam specs.

I had a 2056 built for me earlier this year, using 96mm Keith Black pistons and a Web 86 cam, with 1800 heads (don't recall valve sizes), 8.6:1 CR and 2.1 WBX fuel injection.

I've been quite disappointed with the engine's performance. Part of the problem is the engine is powering my 74 Autovilla, which is very heavy and likes to cruise betweem 80km/h-110km/h, so the engine's always operating below its power band and low to mid-range torque feels less than stock. I'm suspecting the cam may be too much and I should go back to the stock cam, but the problem may also be the fuel injection.

I'm open to all ideas about what to do next.

Im not too sure about the specs of the cam,JPM is a bit secretive about the specs of it.

Its getting colder with temps at around 10 C so the bus is in its heted garage with all batteries on maintenance charge,I will take it out during the winter depending on the weather,we do get lots of snow and ice here, its only got summer tyres and they salt the roads here so it would just rust to bits.
I think it would be bad to not use it for the whole winter.
When i take it out i let it idle for about 5 minutes then drive it till the oil temps come up to operating temps for about 20 minutes.
The season is pretty much over here for camping so next year we will just be doing trips around Sweden.
