1974 VW Variant 412 LE Automatic

Post by oldschool75 »

So, after selling my Baywindow project bus, I was looking for a while to see if I can get anything aircooled.
I'm not really into waiting/working on projects, so was looking for a decent runner.
About 3 weeks ago I came across an OLX add, and got interested.

Although most of the AC community hates the look of the Type 4 Variants, I love it.
I bought it, and with the help of a certain forum member, the wagon was moved, as the automatic gearbox was faulty (stuck in second)

Upon further investigation, the gearbox was shot..... so no runner after all.
Got a used box that was picked up yesterday, and hopefully it will mean a simple "plug and play"
The overall condition of the car is excellent, without any rust picked up as yet.

Thanks for looking,
Johann

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

so....
replaced the gearbox with a secondhand one, all good.
then on to the brakes, the slave cylinders are badly pitted, and leaks brake fluid, which in turn caused the linings to separate from the brakes.
So re-ligning and new slave cylinders to go in this week....
