Paid for him this morning. Should be able to collect him in a couple of days. Pretty good condition 1974 Bay Window Camper Van. Mechanically pretty good, 1600 Type 1 which runs and sounds perfect, has Discs up front and IRS suspension. Underside is all Bakkie lined, so should be good for many years. Body is not bad, has some rust spots on the nose in the usual place which I'll sort out.

While this won't be a rebuild like the Porsche, I'm going to respray and redo the interior to my liking, and then use the bus. So will post some project updates as and when it happens, but for now, I'm happy.

Thanks Derek, jaa, I think so..
Now the search for camping stuff, and especially a Side tent. Our local Camping shops aren't too sharp when it comes to a "Gazebo" type tent with dual openings.. They don't see the need for 2 doors.
Anway, will post updates as they happen.

Hey thanks guys, with the help of Branden and a few other Slaapstad boys I'm sure it'll turn out ok.
Something like this I think. a "Square Brick Porsche"

A quick week, took some time off and got the Bus registered and in my name.
I was always a little sceptical about a 1600 in a bus, but this motor is a great motor, and pullls really well. So for now, I'm not touching it except to change oil etc.

already gone to the beach and back a few times with the Pugs, and it runs great. Gear linkage needs the rear square connection box replaced, I already did the front bush, but it's still a little vague finding 2nd. Interior is covered in Bakkie Lining, it's sealed, almost bucket and mop sealed.

The top is in perfect condition, and works great.

So after inspecting Branden mance's awesome bus, I messed around with some artwork, this is a provisioning pic of what the missus and myself want to create. He's a british theme'd bus called "Winston".. Red and White paint Job, with the interior a Union Jack on the floor, and Bream and Royal Blue leather seats and panels. Blue and white Check or stripe curtains. But something like this.

So, working on the Respray job\quote now, and then I can get started with the interior. More in a few weeks..
cheers
Alan

Dam I just looked at this pic and thought that garden looks so familiar. Never mind the interior. Then wet myself laughing after the penny dropped realizing its my garden and my bus feeling a bit British.
