I'll only be able to check when I next go to the panel Shop. I know they are an industrial type tyre and were quite expensive according to the P Owner. I know for sure they are a taller profile than 65's.

what size are the tires on Winston then, I've been told that I should look for 185/65/14's - read that the Hankook RA08 is the preferred replacement for the Bay's, else Kumho or Vredesteins - all contracted by VW to design tires for the Kombis...I have to replace mine for Roadworthy.

I've also downloaded an APP on my phone (NavierHUD - Heads Up Display) that I'm testing - gives you lekka directions and speed/time/etc on the windscreen - just need to find a way to see it properly at daytime - seems they use some kind of a transparent sheet stuck on the windscreen to assist with the daytime display...

TWT might carry the Hankook RA08. They tried to sell me Hankooks before...

Tony, Indeed, I've worked through BOTH last week to make sure I get the right shoes on the bus- not wanting gravity/g-force to change the shape of SKYE. I'll ask about the 8ply when I replace the rubber.

Baywindow standard tyre size is 185R14C. Which is around 185/83/14 or 185/85/14. Using 195R14C should be fine, that was the size for the first aircooled third generation kombis-(80 onwards).

So I went to check the tyre sizes, as well as the progress.

As I mentioned, mine sits slightly higher than the normal busses, which I do like. The reason, I have 195 R14C tyres.

Branden's also performing miracles and has made me some stunning sliding window surrounds. Will help to finish off the interior once I start making panels up.

Lots of work to be done when I get him home, but I think the finished result, de-rust, removal, straightening out and prepping, respraying, is going to be awesome when completed. ETA is 31 March.

The 185 R 14 tyres are readily available, priced from R 750 for Roadstone's at Good Hope Tyres to around R 950 for Dunlops.

The camper is beginning to take shape Allan - it's going to look stunning in red and white

Hi Mark, Like Alan says those full 36 piece rubber kits from Custom and Commercial are the real McCoy... better than German OG quality and fit like a glove.
At almost 400 GBP, its tough swallowing a bitter pill of R8000 just on rubbers, but are worth it in the end as they stop a lot of water getting into those nooks and crannies and later costing you another visit to the panel shop.

Hes looking sweet Alan.... you have 2 weeks to finish it and join us on our West Coast camp over on 30 May 2015
