Was looking to do redo a Baja, but the quality of donors was poor, or way to pricey to begin with..
So I decided to maybe redo an old original Beetle..
I was lucky to get a 1300 twin port in fair condition and complete just missing a lock or trim ...
Will be spending until Dec... Sometime just pondering what to do, as I am in week 4 after
A serious cycling accident which resulted in me having a hip replacement on 13th Oct ..
I think I will keep her as complete as possible , with 2 tone paint ..
A beige on the doors below the beading..
I think a rebuild of the motor with lots of billet ALU bits ...
I will do a whole polish and clean up...

Had a quick look into the engine bay.. To check on what needs replacing
Guy has a brand new electronic dizzy ..
I need to replace the manifold .. At some point it got a bad knock ,
Anyone have a dual port manifold to sell..
Will be putting performance exhaust on
ALU and chrome pulley and small pulley, will replace oil filler cap with billet system
Repaint all covers, need to add Bosch 091 coil.. Performance cone air filter..
Tidy up and replace rocker shaft tubes... Basically do a full strip and replace all seals and gaskets while I'm busy
This will be Dec job....
The distributor and tyres are 3/4 of the price I paid for the bug..
Very little rust ... Engine bay lid.. And rh front fender have rust ...
So a good buy... Although the sun has had a go at the seats .. Will need to recover them...

Try to stay away from the chrome top pulley. Their quality isnt the best.
Sounds like a good buy, nice one!

Have you thought about breaking the rules and going away from the traditional 2 tone layout?
Something more like
Black and white volksrod.jpg
just an idea...

I am going to dump the heater boxes as they were disconnected from the vehicle a while back..
I am looking to put on a decent performance exhaust...
It must have two pipes that exit the std exhaust holes in her body..
I want a decent throaty sounding exhaust .. Any suggestions?
