proud owner of a Westy. This thread is uber overdue, I had recently purchased a long standing member of the acvwsa fleet.

Dixon aka Dixtoy put up his 71" Westfalia baywindow for sale, and after missing out on a few awesome lowlights I HAD to get this one.

Soon as seeing the ad I contacted him and pleaded with him to keep it for me till I got a chance to view it. (was already sold on it though). Went through had a look and done deal. Dixons wife wasn't very pleased with me. The bus has a history on the forum already as previously was owned by Mellow Yellow.

dixtoy is a gentleman and rockstar to say the least, he never hid any of the issues and went above the call of the sale and swopped the wheels to all round discs and even delivered the bus to me as I was terrified of driving it home. I took delivery after what felt like forever as I was out of the country as was dix.

The bus is a lowlight Westfalia August 1970. With a 1600 motor.
Full Westfalia interior.

I'm an absolute noob with busses so will probably leave out major information or provide somewhat wrong details. All I know it's awesome and the future missus is mad about it.

Time has limited any decent work or progress to it. But the list is as follows:

-Full respray in the original colours
-Undo the indicators and add the lowlights back.
-Clean up of electricals
-Reupholstering of the seats
-Thinner wooden floors (although the currents are retro awesome)
- EMPI or fuchs wheels or stock still deciding.
-Half roof rack

Firstly I have to get the gear bush sorted as gear selector is a F#?!KING scary process. Used a rather pg rated vocabulary driving it to Pioneers museum in pta for its first outing with me. But what's a blast. Some of you may have seen it there.
Then the paperwork needs to get in my name as it's been deregistered but all papers are in my hands which isnt the worst of tasks I'm hopeful of.

Hoping for it to be ready for KKK 2015 and my Wedding in march next year.

All in all super stoaked and happy.

Oh yeah a change of curtains and possibly remove the additional cupboards and add the original rear facing seat by the table.

Way better choice to get lost in! Can have a cup of tea now while waiting for the tractor to pull you out of some huge puddle.

Wow this brings a tear to my eye seeing my old westy again, Dixon really did do a good job on him (I named him Norm)
I originally wanted to get the original cupboard that goes behind the seats but did not get around to doing that, the P.O. removed it to make a walk through and left it like that.
I removed the tatty vinoleum tiles that were in it and played a tongue and grove pine floor. I then made the cupboard that sits behind the seats and fitted the stove, wash basin and shelves. Oh and I also made the pop top tent as I could not afford a new one.
Enjoy the camper. We did

Ps the colour is the original. I replayed it a couple of years ago.

Thanks all. Wow thanks for that mellow. Was wondering when the cupboards were installed and if it was a true walk through. Yeah really just want to put back the rear facing seat. Nothing else. The floors I feel are a bit heavy. But will run them till I absolutely need to change. Yeah keeping it the same colour. The lady says I should paint the beetle blue as well now. Might be a cool idea

Really am chuffed at the being a bus owner.
