Another vacation period has come to an end and I am back in USA earning money for me to spend on projects ;-) (and all the responsible things that the money is needed for....)

I did a fair amount of driving in the bus this time around. Not a massive amount, probably only around 700km, but it was a lot more than I did in my daily driver.
I fitted a new hooter and also got a new custom exhaust made up to my specs.
Yes, I did the maths on what size pipe I wanted, how long and what not and spoke to the guys at powerflow and they built me pretty much exactly what I asked for and what we discussed.
Price was right too, so I was pretty impressed.
I asked for a 4-2-1 pipe, 38mm-46mm-50mm and it came out fantastic.
Previously I had a 4-1 exhaust from a beetle modified to fit the bus. This exhaust did actually work pretty well and I was nicely impressed with it but it looked really crap. The new one being bigger should rob power from the bottom end and give more power up top, but I was hoping that with the longer primaries and the 4-2-1 design it should be able to compensate.
Well, the result is that it drives exactly the same at the bottom as it did with the smaller pipe but now the power continues to 5000rpm whereas previously it had nothing left when it got to 4000rpm.
And trust me, the engine now wants to get up there and go, I have found myself hitting 140 when overtaking trucks and dont have an issue going uphill at 120-130. And I can still to 50 in 4th without any issues.
Not bad for a T1 with a 2L gearbox....

My list of things I want to do to the bus is getting shorter....

Excellent! Correctly-paired 4-2-1 system which respects the firing order. Pairing nr 1 (right front), with 3,(left front), and then similarly 2 with 4.

It was a custom one off - I am sure they can build something similar but it wasnt done on a CNC machine with repeatable programming...

Mmm. Would have been REALLY nice for others to have been able to get something similar to help our busses and their performance. Oh well.

Morning Sean,

Can your guys fab something like this, that helps these Motors run as best they can, or is this a 10 thousand rand question? Although I feel my Andreno motor is good, I do kind of struggle at higher speed, and the only option seems to be the exhaust?

Your thoughts?
