Hes 74 years old and has owned aircooled vws all his life, he bought this beetle a few years back. It was in the process of being done over when the guy died and so my grandpa completed the last bits when he bought it. It is left hand drive and has a ball joint front suspension. Wheels are four stud too. Not sure where the beetle originates from.

Nah, he said ball joint front suspension, as far as I know (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) when they changed to balljoint suspension on the beetles, in the rest of the world, it also went to a 4x130 bolt pattern on the wheels and certain models you could get with front disk brakes as std.
(S.A. stayed with 5x205 and king pin-link pin on the beetles till the end)
1302 and 1303 runs McPherson strut type front suspension..
