Hi guys, I know this is not everyone's idea of a 'great' bug. This is just to show that a lot of work, blood, tears and smiles went into this thing. Hope you enjoy.

I started off with this '74. Not in bad shape, nut PO pranged it on right front - really just cosmetic damage. And a bit of rust here and there...

Removed rear fenders and bumper. Also cut away the apron.

Nice and shiny! Bit of a dress up of the old motor.

I had these 1" wheel spacers made. Kept it on rear wheel, but took the front spacers off due to being unstable. They weigh approx. 5-7KG each.

Blimp indicators on the bonnet.

Twisted conrods for head-light mountings. Try to convince your local engineer that this is the best configuration for a conrod to go back into a motor, and check his facial expression!

8" beam extender, with longer brake lines. UJ steering shaft lengthened about 8".

Finally some paint goes on. These two guys really got the hang of the matt black after a few tries, and finished the entire job over a weekend. :hangloose:

Final verdict: Think twice before attempting to transform a bug into a ratrod / volksrod. It's an extreme case of money-into-a-bottomless-pit scenario.
If however you do decide on it, PM for any parts needed and/or ideas.
