That's an amazing car, perfect in every sense although the wing is needed it would be perfection without it.
Subaru motors can be bought for less than R7000 from importers, that's really not that much money for a 200hp motor.

engines are cheap.
adapter plate
sump kit
ecu and wiring harness
exhaust
service kit
OEM clutch kit, because you don't get pirate scooby parts in SA.
Then you'll have to do the gearbox, brakes and suspension.
R80 000 - R100 000 for a basic solid conversion.

Yes of course all of the above is very true but the same goes for all modifications and conversions. As a Subaru owner I know very well the limited amount of parts sources available.
I would guess that getting the same amount of power reliably out of a AC motor will cost at least that much. Nevertheless that is an awesome car.
It's a pity that the older single cam Subaru motors aren't readily available here. One of those with some carbs on it would be ideal.
