Braki's Bug

I am so excited I cant wait anymore. Tomorrow she will be in running order. Then all the pretty make stuff starts. There is gonna be a long list so I will post when and what Im looking for.

Calooker I'll come fetch the eye lids and handles this week sometime.

The biggest that worries me is the floor pans. The battery bay part is like a sif. The guy looking at making her run can do all these things apparently, but I dont want to be screwed over. Some repair/mechanics mos think ladies dont know how things work. So I'll probably post a lot of questions.

Pictures tomorrow. Camera died on me today.

Welcome and I am sure you will find a lot of info here on this forum, if not, ask, we will direct you to the answers if we can not give them ourself.

There are also a lot of helpful guys in your area, that just love working on beetles.

Enjoy your Aircooled, they each have there own personality.

It all depends what the guy is going to do for that R3000

Maybe you can copy/past the quote, and we can give a more clear reply.

If you hand in your Old brake shoes, and have the drums skimmed the cost should be about R1000 to R1500, but if they supply new drums, well then it could get to that price.

Skimming of 4 brake drums - (by a proper place I might add) is around R300. Rebonding of all 4 brake shoes, should be around R150. If you buy complete new slave cylinders at Goldwagen, you would pay around R100 a piece. So, unless they using genuine OEM parts, I think R3k is a tad high.

Only My Opinion.

I second that..
You can buy a complete disk brake kit for the front for about R2800 & for the back at about R3500 from Volkspares and they are not always the cheapest..
So I think (depending on what's getting done) that 3K for drums are a bit steep.

So brake kit consists of the shoes and the drums?

I'll let you guys know in detail what he is doing. Volkspares is around the corner from me, so if needed I'll go buy straight from them.

PS: Anybody got neat second hand back light covers for me?

LOL!!!!

Ok so the R3000 is for the calipers aswell. And he is just asking me R3500 for a quick service, oil leak, window winders, the breaks, calipers, drums reskim, electrical fixes.

So now I need a welding person and a battery pan thingy.

All the prices you are being quoted seem very high, you should always get a 2nd and 3rd quote before you let someone take you for a ride.

Hey!! Guys, please give the Lady some Honourable VW mechanics names please. Someone in her area.

what ignition does your car still have??

as a temporary solution you can buy a universal replacement ignition at any Midas or autozone
