That was the oval I was initially gonna get! It belong s to a friend of mine who is the current Wonderboom drummer, and was the drummer for Sugardrive!

Has a 1600TP in it, adjustable beam and widened rear wheels.
Was restored about 5 years ago.
Deal fell through because he didn't want to part with it. Glad it is running again.

Also, the semaphore holes were welded up by the PO.

Colour is a Toyota colour that comes on the Yaris. it is a grey looking blue colour (best way I can describe it).
That roof rack is 100% original.

:(
Hurts to see it

He phoned me one day, had a rad chat for about 15 or so minutes, then goes "aaaaah, ya hey. well, ART! Wanna buy my cabbie?!"
He wanted 30K for it at the time. I got the cash from my folks, then he pulled out of the deal.
he was having brake issues all the time. Brake switch kept failing, leaking axle tubes. said it would be unsafe, so he parked it for a while.
looks like it is sorted again

After sighting that car in my area numerous times about five years ago, I decided to follow it the one day.

The owner, who I'm assuming was the same then, was a right unfriendly sod at the time and didn't seem very interested in discussing anything VW then and there. He also declined another meet/chat down the line, so I left it at that.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was having a bad day.

His axle and brake issues are nothing new, because he was having them then too. His extremely wide rims and large drop were wreaking havoc with the oil movement.

The rear wasn't lowered. Only the beam is lowered.
He has a privacy thing, he doesn't like people he doesn't know, feels uncomfortable.
I know, strange for a guy who is a musician, but hey … there are a few.

Oh, when I went up to look at the car (was more than a look actually, I decided to take it when he called), I told him about the forum. He was very disinterested. Seems he is not interested in clubs or meets and what not, he just loves his bug. He has had it now for close on 14 years.

Reason why he offered to me was because he wasn't using it and riding his triumph all the time instead. He wanted it to go to me because he knew I loved it. He was gonna pay for transporting and getting it roadworthied. Then he couldn't fix the problems and pulled the deal.
I was super bleak!!!!

Anyhow. He is a difficult guy, but when you get to know him, he is an awesome friend. I promise.

LOL.... Now you talk about the triumph..... This chap used to live in the same complex as me. There were three of us there with aircooled habits :)

Was quite a private guy....

Ya. Quite private. So it is understandable that he was a knob to Nic
