Is there anybody out there or anybody that knows of a decent place that I can take my steelies to get some chrome laid down on the lip and the center done in a gloss black paint/enamel/powdercoating?

In the JHB or Eastrand area please..

Try De Villiers Bande in Pretoria North (012 546 4469)
They split the rim, have the lip chromed and then reweld the center to the lip. They also can widen steelies if required.

You need to take the wheel for sand blast, then to the chrome guy to polished only the lip that you want chromed.
Then you take it to the powder coater, he must mask off the chrome lip, then powder coat the rest, THEN... without messing up the powder coat (still in powder form) remove the masking, THEN.... he bakes the powder coating.....Then you take it back to the chrome guy that chromed it, as the chrome will not take on the powder coat....
Then he polishes the chrome and then you put on your tyres...........
Man .. was that work......

Or you can just chrome the whole rim ....
then mask off the chromed edge and powdercoat the centre.

But I spose that'd be a little expensive.

Will work, but powder coating will be in the soap water bucket,

.. 1st time you wash wheels.....

.
Powder coating can not grip onto chrome..........

Wow, that does sound like a lot of work, but also sounds like it will be the best bet.. Thanx guys for your input so far..
Is there no way I can paint over the chrome if I have the whole wheel chromed, without the paint coming off or the chrome on the lip being messed up?

You have two problems.
1 Powder coating does not stick to chrome....
2 Chrome does not stick to powder coating.
What you can do is powder coat up to a line, and then chrome, BUT the line will not be sharp and clear.

I don't have to necessarily have the black inner powder coated, if it can be done with paint it will be cool too..

If paint is fine, have the hole wheel chromed, scuff up the area you want black, and then mask and paint.
This will work.....
