This is my Willys replica that I have been building since jan 2009.

Here is some pics of when i bought it:

The tyres on the jeep is not the tyres it cam with so due to the tyres being worn out the first thing I did was to replace the tyres on the Willys this is what I got: 265/75/15

Image

After that the longest part started and that was to sort out the electrical wiering of the Willys and due to me being a student i took the option of doing it myself and that was one i did regret until i was done with it.

Before, there we chocolate blocks everywhere on the body and funky connections as well.

Image

After: Took me about a year to do everything because of exams and also the rainy weather.

Next it was reinforcing the fiberglass floor, the willys doesnt have a pan like your normal beach buggys, I used checkerd plate 1.5 mm thick and it came out better the i was expecting:

For a while now i was thinking of going old school landy on the jeep with the spare tyre on the bonnet and after about two weeks of thinking about it i just closed my eye and went for it: the result was decent and I like it. i used 1.5 mm checkered plating as a base to give some support to it.

After looking for about a year and a half i could get my hands on an alternator, finaly, then i pulled the motor to put the new alternator stand, oil attachment and alternator in. This was a bit difficult because i tried it first with the motor in and came to the conclusion that it was an utterly stupid decision and then i dropped the motor.

After:

The jeep then went to get new brakes, handbrake cable, brake lines and fuel lines. No pics unfortunately.

Went to get the roll cage fixed at the back and have some mounting point welded in.

So this is where i currently stand with my project. The motor has been dropped for some new gaskets and paint. cleaning the fins as well. I will post pics as soon as im done with it. Here some random pics for you to look at enjoy.

This is how its going to look when im done but just with the spare wheel on the bonnet:

Thnx to all the positive comment. its nice toe see some people like my project and what ive been doing. The boddy I bought from someone in melkbos and its came out of swaziland. Thats the reason for the "sd" numberplates. the photos i dot have is when i took the body off and replaced the chassis with one that is localy registerd. will see if i cab get pics of the pan before we replaced it. It was a strait build over and went easy thankfully. The motor was bought localy as well and i have all tha paper for that as well. Ive got a couple of thing to do still but then im going to try and register the willys and go for roadworthy. this must hopefully be done before the end of this year then i will be happy.

Hi

I have one of these as well. They're great 4X4.ing vehicle: quiet capable for a 4X2 . Bought mine after my freind had one that he went fishing with ... When we drive on the beach ... was excellent fun. He's had a 1900 waterboxer, very nice power. Mine came with a 1600 air cooled, Put a 1400 NISSAN in. Just wanted a water colled for low speed rural driving. good luck with the project, keep us posted.

Should be 1300 engine or check if the base where the carb mounts has a aluminium adapter ... then 1300 carb on a 1600 engine. RGDS

when im done with the others ill put some up of them as well. Still need to do the block then its putting everthing back together. cant wait.

@ Roadhawg. the idea was actualy for me to take a landy 90 as source chassis and then build it over but after seeing what its goin to cost decided against it.

When i took the carb of there was only a paper gasket between the carb en the intake peace.
