Aircooled VW South Africa

After 5 days of fiddling with this FI conversion, it's finally running!

Motor is a std type 4 CU bus 2 liter. FI is homemade using wbx plenum and 330cc bosch injectors.
Running with a 36 - 1 trigger wheel and wasted spark.

This video is the very first time it started, so even though it idles at around 1700 rpm - I can still adjust it down a bit.

I'm just SO happy right now, make that ecstatic - you won't believe how much I've been looking forward to this moment!!

Not wanting to sound like a chine's tourist ......... HOW MUCH YOU PAY ????

I don't want to put the price up for the gotech, lets just say a little below R4000.00
Injectors are 2nd hand from e-bay- R1200
The trigger wheel and vr was $80 from the USA.
The rest was just backyard mechanics.

It's still far from perfect, but at least now I can drive it again.

and now to set your timing properly. I have timing graphs of the 009 vs 010 dizzy if you want. I used them for a rough start on my Gotech. still tweaking when I am home.
Its pretty funny driving around in a beetle with a laptop to adjust things.... fast and furious here we are!!!

Dirty motor - I'm going for the "RAT" look. Don't know what the rat look is, but that's what I'll say (sounds bloody unhygienic though)

That would be great! What about we share the gotech .ecu files (setup files)? You are also using the prox software?

I just saw something interesting - idle control. I'm def going to try this. You set idling advance to around 5 BTDC then at a rpm below normal idling you advance the timing slightly (say from 700rpm down to 400rpm) - apparently this gives some crude idling control and prevents stalling.

i am still running carbs, so my maps wont be of any use to you.
You shouldnt have to advance your timing to keep it from stalling, you should run a nicely advacned timing already. I still need to put plenty work into mine. Problem is my laptop doesnt recognise the Gotech when the engine is off, but only while it is running. I ran the car 3 times with the gotech installed before I had to go back to work. But already I was bouncing 6000rpm in second and 135 in 3rd still pulling like crazy
