This is my Baja Beetle 73, just bought as it is 2 weeks ago.
I couldn't resit to take her off road.
Just felt in love when I saw where she can go.

Good fun, but you need to be prepared to get stuck in the deep sand...
And again...
Getting tired to dig, I realized that my tires were crap for this use.
So decided to go for a pair of better rear ones.
Here we go, a pair of 31 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar.
With this I didn't get stuck yet but I will need to do some modifications: short geabox, lift with coilover shocks, wheel spacers and taller front tires.

also you need to let pressure out of your tyres in sand, they then float better on the sand as they have a wider and longer foot print,

Thanks,
It's what I do.
I also play in the sand with my Jeep.
I deflate to 0.8 Bar in deep sand.

Yes, I used to run Yokohama Super Diggers or RVT 180s at 0.8 bar and standard 15 inch marie biscuits on the front. My best off road ACVW ("Die Blou Gemoerte") had a 1300 gearbox. Nice and short.

Where were these pictures taken? I am looking for some sandy places to explore with by bus, since I have moved to the Cape.

Ah nice !!! I miss my baja. It was a 1500 single port with yokis supper diggers at the back, but power was the problem when negotiating deep sand - wish it had a low range, then it would have kicked most 4x4's asses !

I don't think that's the kind of place you want to go by bus, but why not.
There are some tracks with a lot of short bumps there, so you need a very short ride.
Anyway there are also some easier tracks.
This place is my playground in Table View.
I'm looking forward to find some guys to have some runs there.
Anyone interrested?
You can pm me.

It's a lekker playground, but illegal. Be careful they don't fine you. The only legal place to play it the 4X4 track further up and the sand patch "Waai sand" by Atlantis, with a permit.
I used to play there when you went onto the inspection road for the Eskom transmission lines by the BP garage, and go all the way up the Blaauwberg hill. At least half of that's built up now.

I went to Zone 7 the other day, to watch some of the bikes there, and saw a 4x4 track just down the road from there, is this where you took the photos? @ R&G i think my bus can go quite a few places, it is a little bit higher than usual, and has some bakkie tires on, it also isn't in a very OG condition, which makes things easier.
Anyway, I still need to get it down here, but I am sure this will happen sometime in May.

This place is behind Parklands, train rail side, they are building more and more there.
I see a lot of guys with bikes and quads.
Usually I stick on the tracks, some are really fun. Except on my pics, one track was a dead end.

This is a short video taken yesterday.
Not good quality but it gives an idea of want you feel when you are on the back seat.
