Well after a year of fighting with replicar and everything that can go wrong. it is finally coming home to me.

Still tons of work to be done -a bit of electrics and a spot of seats etc.

Here she is now. Still need to get the chrome hub-caps on

Going for the "Select-a-drop" on the front beams. And the rear end - lift engine/gearbox by 50mm then a couple of splines on the torsion bar.

Gear lever is the only trouble I can see.

50mm lift on the engine gearbox would mean not needing to adjust any splines. KCW in the states reckon that you can do a 2 inch (50mm) lift without moving the gear lever.

Do yourself a favour though........get hold of an old set of shocks for the front as brand new shocks make the front of the speedster ROCK hard. If you need a set, let me know as I kep an extra set when i changed mine.

Maybe this thread should be moved in projects Eben???

You lift up the gearbox/ engine from the nose cone and the frame rails as well as install a midmount. (this mod is not for the feint-hearted)

http://www.kustomcoachwerks.com/forums/ ... php?t=2739

In a stock AC set up you have to look at the following.

-Clearance partial shelf above the bell housing
-Clearance partial shelf above the nose cone.
-Cut rear and side engine seal areas out of the engine bay
-Notch frame horns and weld mid mount in place.
-Re-dimple hockey stick so that the shifter work correctly
-Install nose cone
-Install 36 horse style fan shroud
-Fabricate or modify and aftermarket exhaust to clear apron.

This is a 2inch lift in a beetle.

If I lift the main engine/ gear mount up by "say" 50mm (Weld two engine mount together - top of each other) the rear one could move up by 25mm max( new bracket with old mount ). Would the engine/gear not be at an angle and cause oil problems. I would need to adjust a few degrees on the splines too get neg 1 degree on the rear wheels. Any thoughts - I see this done on http://www.volksrods.com forum.

Shame - I just tossed the old skocks and got new ones on. I need to drive the little first to see how hard it is. :?
