Hi All,
I bought a 1979 double cab a few weeks ago.
I went to look at some parts for the Bay split panel I had and saw the double cab. I've seen these dc's before, but some how this one kept me awake at night. After a lot of thinking and discussing I sold the panel van and now own the dc.
It used to have a Ford V6 in the back with huge radiator in the front. I bought it witout a gearbox and engine - also with a big gat in the front.
here are some pics of the collection and some of the things I need to fix, replace[/attachment]

Snap, twins
Nice DC you have there hendrik.
My dc looks the same although it looks as though mine has a bit more rust that yours.
What are the plans for it

Well, I am going back to aircooled. The dc used to have a 2l gerbox and engine, but Im going the 1600 route. If I find that the setup doesn't work I'll consider going bigger. I wanted a 2l box for highway use, but the 1600 will have to do for now.
By the way, I bought a 1600 box and half an engine from a guy last weekend. Hoping to put the needed parts back on the engine and start it... If it works great, if it is dead, then at least I have the parts for rebuilding it...
Other than that, I'll give it a lekker paint job and keep everything as original as possible. That's the plan for now anyway...

So. This weekend I picked up a gearbox for the DC from DUBTech and saw a sad looking bay. We had a chat and said I could have the front of the bus if I needed it - Thanks Bertie!!!
So yesterday (Monday) I convinced a friend to come along and help me to "remove" the front....
We started by removing the front doors, then cut the roof, cut the floor. Then we turned the bus on its side to remove the cab from the chassis. It took just over two hours to cut everything off/out that I can use on to improve the looks of the DC.
The front panel is in Jhb and awaits my next available weekend to work on it again...
