Well this Project has been in storage for to long now
All though I got about 4 other projects in the pipeline This one had to come out of the Rain.
The basic plan currently is it has been dropped off at the sand blasters so lets hope there will be some bus left to work with
Then Clint a friend of mine will be doing the metal work and prep work for paint
I had to get to this step other wise this buss would have been scrap metal if left out in the elements for much longer
I bought the 2 split buses the 66 Panel and the fleetline Panel from a fellow forum member more than 2 years ago
Some of you might recall the April fool joke with the My ex bus is getting exported that was the fleetline
I had some different Ideas with this 66 Panel eg dropping it and making it fast but that gets a bit boring as I got some of those
So I came up with the Idea of Building a Fire theme bus. this the Feuerwehr Project came to light
Ass time has passed I collected quite a bit of goodies for the bus.
The 15" Bus rims was Quite difficult to find but got 5 of them and they will get 7 Ply landy thread type tyres and the bus will be raised
to get the real nice off road look to it but will get camper interior so it could be used to events and sleep overs.

If any of you guys got any fire fighting equiplent that you do not want I am looking for a fire fighting suit etc and pipes for the roof rack
And any nostalgia that you might think I could use

Great Bugger.....I might have an original siren switch in the secret stash that I was going to use in Mo when I thought about fitting some hazard lights....I will see if I do have it and will let you know....It was one of those late nights being stuck infront of Ebay and winning stuff you really didn't need!
It wasn't cheap either

It is heartwarming to see this project moving from a spark to a flame - hope you don't burn your fingers with the guy who does the bodywork!

Thanks Dutch will buy it off your hands no problem
This is the kind of things I will be needing for the bus
You are actually the right guy to check for me in the UK for one of those Rotating Blue Lights
If you could find me one of those for a good price that would be very good news.
Thanks for all the encouragement guys I am going to need it for this one
@ Pine the guy that is doing the body is not some one known to ACVWSA yet but He is really good with metal aswell
So I will keep you guys up dated on progress and some of you guys might even use him for small or big jobs also
His name is Clint From Chronic Conversions will Post some more details later of Clint
Hopefully the shot blasting guys will be "Shooting" the shell tomorrow

Hi Bugger, believe it or not I'm also busy with a similar project, but it is based on a split screen single cab chassis. I spent 10 years with the fire services in Durban and have a passion for fire trucks, etc, especially classic trucks. I've collected a few bits and bobs over the last few months, and we are almost ready to start construction of the body. We live on a small holding and fires are a reality at this time of year, every year. My last fire appliance was a pink Fleetline panel van, totally stuffed, will try find a pic. So this one has to have a tank and pump. Will also be used for photo shoots, etc. If I have any excess fire "stuff" I will let you know, will also keep a look out for you. There is another character on the forum who is also going to be doing something a little bit similar to you, but it probably won't look like a panel van in the end, he is up your part of the world
Good luck, Looking forward to it

I have similar pics which I've saved for reference. You'll notice that there is'nt much based on the single cab chassis. Most are panel vans, here and there a double cab. The one with the most "character" is the one on which they have based a toy model, that seems to have been a panel van which was severly "altered" ! So my plans are still sketches at the moment.
That big light, and most of the the other bits and bobs we'll have to make up, I found a huge spot light in a junk yard (I suspect it came off fire tender).
Christian is the other dude, I know he wants to build one up also for practical reasons, living on a small holding, fire services far away, etc, etc.
Will definetly keep you posted, at the moment the SC itself needs to be registered and put on the road first, almost there with that. (no papers, history, all of that schlepp)!
My truck will have the same idea as the bay window single cab on the left, but not as "square" and 70's looking.

Bugger why don't you get a fire service-inspired company to sponsor you for the project? Something like

Good luck Pierre. I am also quite keen to see this one takes shape! Great idea/theme.
I wanted to post a pic of an awesome model I was lucky enough to find this week, but you beat me to it! That sc firetruck is amazing. Keep the pics coming.
