Thats right.......i felt like i was in vintage car heaven. The owner plans to sell all the cars for scrap metal by September this year so please lets save a few. He wants about R2000.00 per car. Cheers. Vintage.

If that yard was closer, would have made an attempt to save one or two. Unfortunately, by the time those cars are pulled out from there and trailered up here to GP, it runs into crazy money for a rusted :(

Is that a notch in the 3rd picture? The blue one behind the yellow rust bucket? I seriously need a rear window. :zhelp: :zhelp: :zhelp: :zhelp:

Beetlefanatic, I spot at least two Notches! with rear windscreens.

When are we going, there has to be some trim we can save for all the Type 3 owners.

Could this be it ?

If it is, sheesh, look at the size of the place, and in Melmoth of all places?
Would love to hear the full history on how those cars ended up there in the first place?

The yard is located about 6km south of Melmoth. Over 250 cars rusting away. The collection was created by a local car sales man who received these cars as trade-in and drove them onto a farm in Utrecht. That right, all the car were driven onto the farm. The collection traded hands to Marmic Auto Holdings who picked out the runners and collectibles and the balance was sold to the current owner. You can view the Marmic collection on http://www.marmic.co.za .

These cars still have their engines intact which a majority of the interior trim. My advise is take the family to Durban for a holiday and sneak out and drive the 200km and strip to your hearts content. Enjoy. Vintage.
