Hey Guys....
So after lurking around on the forum for a few months... and hoping to find an Eagle at a good deal.... (doesn't happen)
i have taken over this buggy from my uncle... dont have the papers yet so i dont even know what year it is... i just know she's got a 1600 motor, which runs, some gearbox issues and a whole lot of work ahead of me!
i've been trying to think of the best body alternative, as this camo one has seen better days, i'm sliding towards pulling it all apart and building an Arial Atom rep...
i have an audi 2.8 V6 motor too... which might find its way into the back
But then i might not fair too weel with the aircooled purists, so we'll see.....
What do you guys think?

I say good luck on the Atom Rep. Going to cost a bit to make. Even if you find the body kit, it is going to cost more than a kidney. But I am all for it!

That buggy rocks as is. Just put the screen up and ride it like it is.

On the Beetle pan?

With Beetle suspension?

Can't imagine how you'd get that to look (or drive) much like an Atom....
Better tokeep the buggy and scratch build a spaceframe & suspension & keep the Audi driveline in it's normal configuration.
Of course if you're staying with a beach buggy, but just picking up on some of the styling cues that's a diiferent matter - think it could be pretty awesome! I recall seeing a Lotus "buggy" down in Gordon's Bay a couple years ago. Trellis frame idea was continued through to the dash/floating instrument cluster. Also google the Hoppa/Fubarfactory.

Hey Guys...
Thanks for all the replies & well wishings.....
I'm gonna start by stripping her down entirely! then i'll decide what to do i reckon... i know that floor pan has rusted thru... so that'll require some effort... but from what i've seen lurking around here, i'll wire brush the rest of her back to life
The guys on the Audi forum reckon i should cut the back off just behind the seats, and mount the whole Audi subframe & gearbox...

we'll see how it goes......
Hey Neil - pop passed... you guys are more than welcome, if you can get thru all the boxes

So the Bug's been put on hold for the momentO

.... my Laguna gave up and i had to buy another car...
The day i let the Laguna go i found this gen, just by pure chance....
There are a few niggly things which need sorting out, as the quattro is now my daily driver they'll need to get sorted first... by then hopefully my bank account will have recovered enough for me to be able to Give the Camo Cruiser some attention.
Later
