Fleetfooted - 75 Fleetline - We have ignition :-)

Post by karmakoma »

Another Day, Another ACVW.

Was browsing the Forum looking for the address of Aircooled Heritage day, when an AD from hifibug57 caught my eye. Bug, Bus and Ghia for sale.

I have wanted a bus for years, so had to take a look.

Would you believe it, a running fleetline for a reasonable price, how often does this happen!

Phoned him straight away and we concluded the deal there and then. Some paper work and some $ work were exchanged and I now own a fleetline.

One slight problem, the fleetline is in Cape Town, and I am in JHB. Busy arranging shipping - 10/10/2009.

At least I have a couple of pics to look at till she arrives:

Usually, when someone buys a bus, the first thought is - slammed on fuchs. But this one will be different.

How about , raised on Landy wheels! Go anywhere bus!

...and so the roller coaster came to a fork in the road. Where is this going to go?
Bus lyk baie goed. Sal lekker 'road house' toe gaan as hy hier kom....Uh.. waar is daar nog 'n padkafee in Gauteng?\\

Very nice.

I too have been spending copious amounts of time on the UK bus forums for inspiration. This one looks pretty damn clean, how's the transport situation coming along?

Rostyles or EMPI 5's. But nice bus! dam. I would start a band if i ever got one of those. Paint it black and White! not that i would ever let any of the drunk band members in it anyway....
From fastest to slowest:

Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy

Thanks Guys

Once I have the Bus up in the thin air of the highveld I'll take a proper look at what needs to be done, and then plan a course of action.

Being a bit of a purist, I don't want to get anyone's hopes up that anything will be cut, not going to happen, but there are QUITE A FEW bolt-on mods that could make this bus something different. Any modifications will only happen next year though. There is a Notch and a Beetle to finish first! :hangloose:

Thanks Shane
@ Splitz - that bus must be very light on fuel ...., NOT what I had in mind

Once I have the bus I'll see if my brother in law will borrow me his landys tyres, just to check clearance :-)
