as can see it needs a lot of TLC but going to turn in to a Volksrod if i can get out of there by Friday, as the grass is holding it and my mazda could not tow it out, then we will start cutting the roof.

also looking at buying a 1969 beetle all original including the 1200 motor. and interior.

Got them from my Uncle and he got them of a Cortina bakkie .......

he want R5000 for it but not sure if that what I want he kinda pushed me into taking them. I just like the idea of the huge rear wheel size.

Gr8, always like to see a beetle getting a new lease of life. Just don't let the grass grow under your feet. Hehehe
Isn't that what you'd expect from VW?

Just quick q can i get the windscreen cut or do i need to let a new one made to fit the chopped roof. I know the windscreens have that plastic bit in for the shatter proof but don't know if this is same here i can't see why not and that might be a problem.

They can be cut - side and rear glass is tempered and can't be (although you can have flat tempered glass made up to templates)

Windscreens (laminated) are often tricky to cut especially older glass - they say if you get one good one from 3 attempts you're doing OK

I heard about a technique with 'cutting' glass where they mask the part that needs to be saved off with something, and simply sandblast the excess glass away?
