Hi guys,

How much do one of these conversions cost?

What parts do u need?
do u need to change the gearbox?

is it easier to do it on a bus as opposed to a bug?

what fuel consumption can one expect with a rotary instead of an aircooled engine?

cheers Julien

Julien, there has been quite a few discussions around this subject.

The best person to speak to is Bugger.

A rotory is heavy on petrol, but when you put in a rotor its more for power than economy, and yes have search for this subject or pm bugger,he himsef has a monster turbo rotory bug...id say a bug is easier its been done for ages...

Hi Julien

Visit my Web site http://www.buggertransmissions.co.za

and send me a E-mail from my web site then I can send you a list of things you will require to do the conversion

I had a Rotary Turbo in my Double cab Micobus aswell and it was very funny racing the BMW`s past 190Km/h on the highway

So It does not matter where it will go in you will still have lots of fun playing with the other cars on the road

With longer ratios wich I also got in the DC the fuel is better than a 1.9 WBX but when you clean the Rotarys trought and give it stick it does come a bit thirsty but you enjoy every extra sent that is getting wound down the Exhaust

Id smaak to go rotory turbo route with the buggy but then that just makes me like any other guy with a buggy that looking for more power...i wanna pass a windgat golf and have him see that its still the ''kak'' beetle motor and the rotory ruines that...but then again a rotory in a buggy must f@@@@@ckoooooooffffff!!!!

I have done 11sec on the 1/4 mile before with a Aircooled so one word of warning is that be prepared to spend 2wice and a bit more to a Aircooled motor to get the same power as you would spend on a Rotor

I will be running my Aircooled motor in my Buggy again oneday
I have spend more than R50K on my motor and it is not even wild

It all depends if you want to build a realy usable daily driver or a toy for every day abuse I can give you a Guarantee that a ACVW is not going to sit with your abuse for long

So i have seen,id like a acvw oneday but if i cant resist the speed bug i might pop in a rotory...can always go back...what is a ballpark figure for a rx turbo motor in a buggy?

hey guys,

What would the fuel consumption be with a 13b turbo rotary motor in a:

1) bus
2) bug

??

R30k sounds like a lot of money to do a swap?

i take it that is with everything done, obviously.

but what about using a naturally aspirated rotary motor?

i imagine that would be a bit cheaper coz u don't have fuel injection and a turbo,
obviously still have a radiator to sort out though.

Fuel consumption depending on the right foot

But nice drivin around 8-12 Km /L

SOmetimes you will be going over R30K

Going n/a will be around R10K cheaper with out the EFI

If you want to go N/A then you buy a Series 5 Turbo motor which has hight CR than a series 4
And have done some conversions like that

How about if u swap a rotary into a watercooled bus?

would it be slightly cheaper coz the waterworks are all there?

:flash:

Yes then you just need to build a back cross member to hold the motor and tranny in place
