Re: What did you do on your car today?
Saturday I was up at sparrow-fart eager to have a fiddle - on the car that is Pulled the rear-left wheel, disconnected the clutch cable, removed the infamous Bowden Tube. Took it back upstairs to the kitchen sink (God help me) and gave it a thorough clean with boiling water and degreaser. Drove to the local spares place in the other car and bought universal grease. Guessed how many spacers to use according to an old vw manual's write-up. Fitted everything having greased it all up nicely. Set clutch free-play to recommended amount. Wheel back on. Went roaring off for a long drive. Car's quite happy. Gave it a scrub yesterday so it's all ship-shape and Bristol Fashion!

Stared gazingly at my latest Orange Peel ... and dreamed of a Utopia where spray paiting was not this F$%#$^# difficult!!
Now where was that bolt from again ...?
And do I need to weld that together?

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Had the day off yesterday so I had the starter replaced on my seatcovers Opil and then got my buggy going. Went for a joy ride around the block and found the damage to the bug is more than I thought. The steering coloumn seems to have taken a knock and bent very slightly. I will remove the tank on the weekend for further inspection. There also seems to be damage to the wiring in the colomn as the is some strange goings on. I have all the fuses out except for starting and the battery still looses all stored energy.

Tonight, I finished the back boards for Christn's front door panels. They are now ready to be covered.
Next up... the rear door panels.

Fitted new Carb... so the Beetle is finally driving without cutting out!
This weekend it's off with the bumpers and stripping the cheap matte black sprayjob the ex-owner did (and a blerri terrible job at that!) hoping the chrome isn't too scuffed!
