ok so i understand the back of a beetle can be lowered slightly.
not sure what its called, but the "plate"like bit that bolts to the sideshaft, sits on a spline, and the position of that spline can be changed to get a slightly lower rear.
so once the end cap has been removed, how does one get that "plate" off the spline?

mark the location its on before dismantling.

Just take your trolly jack and wrap a piece of chain around the bottom of the jack (drill holes into its sides and use bolts) and secure over the shock tower. Now jack up the trailing arm. It will compress the arm not lift the car.

its not that bad i did it on the rat donor for my beetle turned out good and all my limbs are intact not even a scratch the one thing that u need to have is a smooth floor that a jack can slide on,angle measurer and a crowbar
