lowering beetle rear

Post by RvanZ »

ok so i understand the back of a beetle can be lowered slightly.
not sure what its called, but the "plate"like bit that bolts to the sideshaft, sits on a spline, and the position of that spline can be changed to get a slightly lower rear.

so once the end cap has been removed, how does one get that "plate" off the spline?

Be prepared for it to jump at you.

Just take your trolly jack and wrap a piece of chain around the bottom of the jack (drill holes into its sides and use bolts) and secure over the shock tower. Now jack up the trailing arm. It will compress the arm not lift the car.

All the control you need. How are you expected to work on something if its going to hurt you.
