My Sad 65
Ok, so I sold my 65 today, various reasons, wont bore you with the details.
Took a few pics with my cell before it left. Dirty but still good looking!
Feel free to browse the album.
Will add my other previously owned bugs to the album soon.

Re: My Sad 65
Ah Chris, how much time have you got, I bought it waaayyy back, think it was 2000 or something, NO PAPERS, had it police clearanced, then started the restore, will post some pics of that as well in the album.
After 2 years and aload of money, it was more or less done. At this stage I still had my 2nd owner 67, which I drove around from time to time and to shows, so the 65 without papers was left standing.
Then I got engaged, married, bought a house, sold the 67, sold my chiti golf, priorities change and still the 65 was standing.
I tried to get it reregistered finally 2 years ago, but it was already OFF the system. This meant going the whole reintroduction route. I did not have the stomach for it.
We just finished some major renovations, and the guy doing the paving nagged me about this beetle for ages, finally gave in and sold it to him. When I took a close look I saw how the standing had already damaged the car, small things, but they would definately add up. So that was it, sold it as is, voetstoots no papers. Last car I buy without papers!
If you guys are interested, I'll do a write up of all the work done, or maybe not, may just remind me of all the bucks I spent, and sold it for less than 25% of that. But I suppose thats how it goes with most projects..

Re: My Sad 65
I know how you must fell Karma, back in the 90´s i bought a 57 that looked like a good object. I spent about 5 years to buy new stuff and renovated some, 90% of the car was new if not, renovated to top finish. Brand new 1835cc motor, boyd wheels from usa, momo seats and interior in mocca and suade etc. cost me about 100.000rand at the finish.
And then on my way to Gothenburg (the biggest town nearby me in sweden) i drove too fast in my civic and crashed in high speed on the motorway, almost killed me with a result in hospital for a week.
When i came home from hospital i sold it all for about 25.000rands....... i drove a bicycle for 2 years after.
I have regret this about a million times, it makes me sad every time i think about it.
But for about 3 years ago my interest for cars finally came back, and for about 2 years ago i found a 57 again and this time i will NOT sell it.
So i can understand if you are sad about selling a car you have built with blood, sweat and tears.
Peace brother....
An old pic from the old car... it was a showstopper for sure.
And here it is with the new owner, repainted my expensive paint, jerk..
