Aircooled VW South Africa

Hi guys, i bought a beach buggy and want to do an engine conversion, I would like something really fast and reliable, it will be a toy not for everyday. What engines would you suggest and where would the best place to take it for conversions? I also need to do breaks, Wheels etc etc.

Any info will be great as i dont have any info at the moment. Only have the beach buggy and some limited cash flow. Please guys help me make one of the best buggies around.

Yeah, you can spend as much as you can dream of, you can go as fast as you want, you must set yourself some goals. Also the more you soup and engine up, the more maintenance and less reliable they become. Give us something to work with here... and we can give you lots of advice...

Thanks guys, i dont know exactly how much i want to spend although it must be reliable, i want it as a toy and not a race car. If i want turbo will water cooled not be a better option? Sorry guys im not much of a mechanic. Also need to upgrade breaks.

Mine has discs all round, don't need that, just the front, and even then, if your drum brakes are maintained correctly, they stop a buggy quick enough. I tow a trailer on long camping trips, hence the discs.

Engine wise, I run a 1914cc AC motor, with and Engle 110 cam, 1:1.25 ratio rockers on 041 heads, two 36mm IDF Webers and hence a 009 distributor, with Ignitor electronic ignition. My motor has an external oil cooler (again for cooling) and an external oil filter. Make 60kW and 190Nm. Plenty quick in a buggy, believe me.

I think you can get close to that for about 15k, I can't recall.
