Crappy weekend

Post by Watercool »

What a f@cking weekend it seems to be, sorry for the blast off, but my weekend did not start very good. Firstly nature decided to screw us over by dumping about 8 inches of white crap on us in 5 hours. So that makes every driving Omahan become a maniac. They believe because they have a $50 000.00 high rise SUV that they can still drive like the roads are dry. So one of these blinking idiot's cut me off, I skidded into a ditch. I got out after digging for about an hour and 4 wheel drive. I am steaming and decide to stop by a toy shop (always seems to cool me off) Nothing new in the shop, on my way back to the truck I step on some black ice, I tell you a MACK truck coming at you while you lay in the middle of the road is a little overwellming and you realize how big them things are. Well, I dragged my ass into my truck, cussing like a drunk sailor. My back hurts, my side hurts when I breath and I have a tingling feeling in my fingers and legs.

Went to the emergancy room, after 10 000 f@cking tests and x rays they tell me I got some nerves pinched in my lower back and 2 cracked ribs, then some intern doctor has the balls to ask me " Did you fall on the ice?" Let me say, he has second thoughts about being a doctor after I was done, then he want to book me in overnight for observation. I really unloaded on his ass. I told them to get screwed and left, pants in hand (why I had to take my pants off is still a mistery to me) So here I am sitting, my back is killing me, I got to take very shallow breaths so my side don"t hurt, any movement is hell. What a freaking weekend. Just my rant, sorry.

Henry, sorry to hear mate. Seems that once the ball gets rolling on bad luck, it just doesnt seem to want to stop. Hope your back doesnt get worse. It is the great US of A, you cant get hold of Morphene?? I never broke any ribs, but that big smacks on the rib cage that I had, hurt like hell. So I can just imagine how much pain yo uare in. Take it slow and easy, and heal up good!

Good luck. Advice, sleep on the sore side, it immobilises the injured ribs, but hurts like a bastard trying to get up. At least you'll get some sleep. Anyway, it only takes 6-8 weeks...

Sorry, mate, hope you get better soon.

I had it last year, fell at work, slipped off a high beam and landed on it with my rib cage. OOOFFF I went. "That'll hurt in the morning" I thought to myself. It did...

Eish Henry, hope you feel better soon. I am not one for drugs, but ribs hurt like hell I am told, so get some STRONG stuff.
Then you need the warm love of a good woman, a couple of new toys, and it'll all feel a little bit better.

Just an aside. Here in JHB we always dream of snow, (it has snowed maybe three times here in the last 30 years, if you could call 2 of the times snow), but after reading your post, and seeing how some people drive already, I think maybe its better that there is no snowfall here, EVER.

Sorry to hear Henry.....I slipped a disc a few years back and I couldn't move...not funny :( I had back problems for 18months there after and now I'm always very careful what I lift....when the ribs fell better, get to a chiropractor for the trapped nerves as you have to get them released !

Sorry to hear of your troubles Henry.

I second Dutch Diver's advice above re chiropractor.

There's nothing you can do about cracked ribs except ride the pain and give them time to heal, 6-8 weeks as others have said. BTDT.

Guys thanks for the wishes, man it really hurts, but I invited a few of my old pels over and it went better, Johnny Walker, Capt Morgan, Count Pushkin, Blacky and Red they all helped me make it thru the weekend. LOL. No I just kept as still as possable, I feel a lot better. The back is still hurting when I try certain moves. Will have to go see a Chiropractor sometime. Thanks again.

You could always kick Wacko Jacko out of the oxygen tent and use it for a few hours a day....

It works thats what Mark Webber used to speed up the recovery of his broken leg..

Hi Henry,

Sorry to read about your rotten (icey?!) luck. Hope you get better soon.

(and quick enough to sort out TB5!!!) ....just joking, take it easy!

Some free advice: Look at :flash: the whole time, it displaces your blood then the back doesn't hurt so much! :D
