I know we focus here mostly on VWs stolen -
:| hopefully no-one minds me adding details of Stuart's Merc - it was his everyday car :|
Stolen today, between 12 and 1 while he was doing his shopping at Crowthorne Shopping Centre, Midrand.
Reg no: KYL 846 GP
White with a silver strip along the bottom of the doors, 1992 model, grey-ish seats, good condition.
If anyone sees it, please call me on 083 455 7684 or Stuart 083 450 9255

Pine's Merc was taken also in Midrand about a year ago.

Heide, I am so sorry to hear about that! I have just phoned the control room at Netstar Midrand (phone number 0800 11 22 22), they will keep an eye out for the car tonight - for what it is worth. Mine was a '96 E220, also white, same shape that got stolen from the covered parking area at Boulders in August '07. Never found again, but I hope yours will be another story. I tried to phone you, but your phone only went on voicemail. Bestaluck!

Thanks so much, Pine - appreciate that very much.

In the meantime, Stu's daily driver will be either the Ghia or the Volvo 544

Thanks guys -
Stuart's luck was bad yesterday - we think the car was targeted maybe - Stuart likes to park away from the crowded section of the parking lot, feels cars are more noticeable there - and less likely to be scratched - he often has lunch at this centre and does shopping - you know how we often develop habits and patterns.
Anyway, he's coping OK - loved the Merc tho, so hassle-free...

Which is the best tracking service offered?

Is there anything one can transfer from one car to another? (I heard something like that on a radio ad recently)

I got Sure drive units and only need 2 wires conected + and- so when the car is started the alternator higher charge rate picks up and tracks and also live trackking and the beauty is it is on the Pay as you go system so no expencive software or monthly contracts you basically pay for which ever things are activeted the only bad is the initial purchas around R3000

http://www.x-drive.co.za/

Go to the site and use the guest user and check

I`m not Saying it is the best but you are in control and can get linked to a recovery team for around R50 / month

I'm sorry to hear about that. Bad luck Stu.

Funny, but Gisela interrupted two suspicious guys who I'm certain were about to steal my Merc 350SE from outside my house yesterday evening.

I often park it outside when I return from work. I've never been concerned about it because my domestic and his pals spend every afternoon sitting on the corner, and the street kids on the intersection would also set up a hue and cry if anyone messed with my car. But it was raining yesterday so Boiki wasn't in his usual spot and the street kids packed up early. I suspect the scumbags had been watching and waiting for a chance like that. The perps were driving a white Nissan Almera reg RND382GP or maybe RND386GP.

I hope Stu gets his car back.

And I think it's time for me (and all of us) to up the level of security on our cars.

All you need is a bottle of Carling Black Lable beer or white horse whiskey or whatever else these guys drink ,hidden in the sparewheel well. The beer must be replaced by 100% pure arsenic or some other lethal substance  :drunks: :drunks:

So, if your car does get broken into, they would go through the whole car looking for the tracking unit etc, they are bound to find the bottle. And it would be logical that they would drink it or give it to one of their other cronies  :drunks: :drunks:

Sometime later, you will see an article in the Daily Sun about an affirmative shopper dying after drinking "Alcohol found in an abandoned car".

Now, isn't that sweet revenge     :finger4u:
