Hi Guys,

I was at at the races as well, very nice car, car is very well prepared.

Looks good sounds good and goes like the clappers!!!

And man was I surprised by all the bugs at the races, pity we could not get them all parked together in one area. Maybe something to remeber for the next race. When I walk out after the races in the general area where I was parked there were maybe 5 bugs.

You are running a N/A 1776cc correct?

Whats your topend speed?
Do you have a std box or is it Buggered?

It is a n/a 1776cc.

I'm not sure about the topend. She ran 5800rpm in 4th gear, the gearbox is std 1300 ratio at this stage.

The syncro's are buggered, you can clearly hear that on the video. Especially going into 3rd gear. :) Dont really want to change it now. Got myself a ratio gearbox with special gears. :)

There's def something wrong there.

With my old 1776cc I ran past 6500rpm in 4th gear at wesbank. On that one the compression was 11.5:1

The only way to know if the ecu is the problem is to run the car on a dyno and check the fuel mixtures. Obviously you must remember that the ecu was designed for another car, so it wont be 100%.

Are you running itb's or a single throttle? That could also be part of the problem. You need air. We're not allowed fuel injection in the historics, on my 1776cc I'm running twin 44mm idf's... and even that does not seem to be enough for high rpm.

How are you using a Golf ecu with a carburetor? Something doesn't make sense here :?

A single dcd does sound a bit small for what you want to do... why not change to dual carbs or itb's?

TCI; ECU, TITS, ASS..... sounds the same to me.... :drunks:

You are correct TCI...

I think I need to move to Twins :flash:  They suck harder and can take move down their throat per stroke!!! Which should cure the motor from being "governed".....

Was wondering about 3rd gear watching the video.... nice job on that engine.

Vader, you dont have a DCD, yours is a twin choke carb. Your heads are your limiting factor

Thanks Tony.

That's just one more reason to add a turbo. Force the air in.
